(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 01:32 am (UTC)(link)I've always felt the same way. My hottest OTPs were my own characters in my own original fic.
Not only am I wondering why people are seeing offense in OP's second part when it's just a statement for what works for OP and no one else, I'm looking at fandom as a whole because OP is even feeling that this secret is narcissist.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 01:43 am (UTC)(link)Thank you. I felt weird because I felt like I was the only one who read it that way. I didn't even read any offense into the statements in the second part really, just the feeling that maybe the OP could have worded them a bit better. (though the "this is my personal opinion" subtext seems obvious as hell already clearly its not enough)

(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 02:10 am (UTC)(link)As a person who writes fanfics with stuff not all people like, I've read a hundred thousand times on this comms and other places-
"I don't read WIPs, finish it, then we'll talk."
"Fics with [thing] are an instant backbutton to me"
"I'm only interested in fanfics with [ship]. It's canon."
and on and on. These are some of the nicer ones. Some of them are said in much meaner or more judgey ways. I don't know maybe it's helped me gain a sense of "eh, so they don't like this thing? Who cares in the long run?"
I think its kind of a shame that OP doesn't like to think out of the box, but whatever. As long as they're not harassing people about it, and I honestly don't think they are, personally.
Re: AYRT
(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 04:45 am (UTC)(link)And you can express your personal feelings on how you fandom -- though it beats my why you'd think it was important enough that anyone gave a fuck in the first place -- without the snide little backhanded remarks about the people who do.
Wordage like "pointless" and creator's vision = only vision I care about therefore the obvious extrapolation from that is that no one else's interpretations count for shit is a pretty poor choice for a) someone who's that elitist about writing and b) someone who's innocently expressing an opinion.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-17 01:44 am (UTC)(link)"Fanworks feel pointless."
"Only the original author matters, and only their vision is worth caring about."
Judging by that last bit, I'm guessing OP's medium is writing, they should understand tone and diction. I can't comment on your understanding.
