Where do you people shop????? I have never had a problem finding pants with pockets. Or no sequins. Or not see thru fabrics. And I can find tons of t-shirts AND dress shirts without plunging necklines.

I feel like everyone who complains about these things shops at the cheap "fast fashion" stores where everything's made poorly for teens and 20somethings. Grown-up shopping, it's time to do it.

Even H&M or urban planet has racks of plain cotton shirts in basic colors and decent necklines. I agree that decent pockets in pants are a bit harder to find, since most of the ones I've found can't hold more than half my smartphone.

The only problem with grown-up shopping is that a lot of the good stores are a bit out of the price range of the people who typically complain about these things.

Untrue. You can get perfectly decent clothing at places like H&M and T.J. Maxx, like some of the other people in this thread have said.

Just the other day I got a nice long skirt and a top from H&M for under $30. The top is neither see through nor sequined nor has a plunging neckline.

Assuming you live anywhere in the vicinity of those stores. Not everyone's in the city or suburbs, or in the US for that matter.

My issue with grown-up shopping is that yeah, the pants might have pockets and the shirts aren't see through, but the clothes are also either out of my price range or boring as hell. I want a blouse that isn't see-through, but I would also like it to have a nice silhouette and maybe have some cute ruffles on the front or lace on the cuffs and I'd like pants that have pockets but also patches or paint splatters or bright colors or sit a little lower on the waist. The stuff for teens and 20somethings is cute and I want that but in sensible fabrics with real pockets and maybe some embellishments that aren't rows upon rows of sequins.

Grown-up shopping is mostly whatever you decide to wear as a grown-up. And for people into 20something fashion, which is absolutely adulthood, companies use "layering fashion" as an excuse to make clothes ridiculously thin.

Ah, so that's why people get so weird about turning 30 -- because even if you have a career and are paying on a mortgage, you're not a grown-up if you're still in your 20s.

I seriously wonder this whenever I see people saying stuff like that. All of my pants have pockets save for a few pairs of tailored slacks, I don't have anything with excessive sequins that isn't club wear, and the only things I have that are see-thru are designed to be worn with a camisole underneath (some of them even have that built in).

And I mostly shop at places like TJ Maxx.

I really wish my dress slacks had pockets tbh. :/

Yep. Finding good bras and/or good shoes can be a problem, but I have never had any issues with finding other clothes. Even regardless of the price range.
