So we should be careful to only expression negative opinions about the worst celebrities? Maybe like... the top five or something, and the rest who are guilty of lesser douchebaggery get a pass?

What a weird argument.

I'm not saying you can't express your dislike for anyone in particular. Or that you have to limit to the worst people. I'm just so. tired. of the over the top aggressive hatred Taylor Swift gets. It seems so, so unnecessary to me. To listen to some people, you'd think she was the antichrist come to earth to destroy everything good. And honestly, the more I listen to it, the more I'm convinced that a lot does come from this misogynistic place where girls can't be successful without being terribly flawed.

Criticize whoever you want. Just be honest about the fact that if you're going on about Taylor Swift being the *worst*, you're ignoring a hell of a lot of worse people who often get a pass because they're "talented." And that's bullshit.

Implying she cares about making money more than providing free music for fans doesn't really sound like over the top hate. It sounds like someone disagrees with her legitimate, arguably sound business decision. The very worst thing the secret implies (and I stress, implies) is that her public persona doesn't fit with her business decisions and... well, that's true, like it's true for most artists.

So yeah... if that's calling someone the antichrist, you must live in a world full of fluffy kittens and lollipops.

Late response is late, but I'm not saying the OP of the secret is calling her the antichrist or hates her in a spectacular way. I'm saying some people express absolutely over the top hatred of her and display this (to my mind) irrational desire to bash everything about her. I'm responding more to the general discourse around Taylor Swift than this particular secret, though this comment does feed into it, in that I think it's kind of unnecessarily focused criticism, particularly given the secret-maker's tone of "NOW you'll see how terrible and disingenuous she truly is! She wants MONEY!!!!!!"

Say what you want about her business decisions, her music, her lyrics, whatever. You don't even have to like her as a person! I just want people to be honest about why they feel such visceral, unreserved *hatred* for a young woman they don't know. (Hint: it's not because she's actually awful.)

There's a difference between never criticizing and constantly hating on/finding every little reason to hate.
