All that gamergate shit is too narrowly focused (it's stated goal, I'm not going to respond to any bait to mentioning GG going beyond this statement). Ethics in journalism is kinda shit right now period.

A big reason for this is that thanks to the internet any idiot can call themselves a journalist these days.

Honestly, traditional media are not doing much better.

Even just the things I can fact-check (sources that can be guessed at*, translations etc.) make my skin crawl - for stuff where I have no alternate source of information, I just want to nope out of news media forever.

* Because heaven forbid existing sources be named so readers can follow up on the shitty article.
