I loved them too. Why is it I only find Worf tolerable when he's around strong women? I wouldn't say I ever actively shipped them, but I really loved them together.

Personally, I think it's because it's the only time he seems fully in his element. The rest of the time he's either fighting against fellow Klingons who don't think he's good enough, or a total alien surrounded by people who like/love him, but don't entirely grok him.
