Well if the majority of the people OP's trying to "help" with their actions find it insulting instead, it might behoove them to listen.

You might find it encouraging. Most of us find the opposite.

Then the person leaving empty comments can congratulate themselves on their deception, I guess. I dunno. It just doesn't sound nice to me, even if it's well intentioned. I don't like it when other people decide what I need "for my own good". I prefer to decide that for myself.
