I think comments exist to motivate people. (in non professional fic writing) Not the sole purpose but the main one.

Are you just being deliberately obtuse?

You say comments don't motivate you at all, and yet you say fake ones are totes encouraging for people.

You don't answer when people ask you HOW exactly this is all so encouraging for you, except now you've just contradicted yourself because by your logic then NO comment could motivate you so why are you claiming they're oh-so-helpful for others, when several writers have told you they feel otherwise?

Every time someone makes a point, your only contribution is "So?" or asking them to repeat what they've just told you.

You don't even HAVE an opinion, let alone a valid one.

When I started writing they did motivate me and made me write faster. Now they put a pressure on me instead. Not to let my readers down and such. It's sad really. I still love getting feedback.

Oh yes, the whole thread is littered with my 'so', it's everywhere.
