Regardless of whether or not this particular remark is true, it is a well known fact that he had fallen into drug abuse years ago and that he had a reputation for being a pretentious prick. He's very lucky that Iron man was created and that he was chosen to become part of it because it revived his career, not to mention paid him ton of money. Now people just brush off his behavior with, "Oh that's just good old RDJ, that Tony Stark-like rascal." Maybe a lot of his fans are too young to remember his 'wild' years but I've always side-eyed him a bit even though I respect him as a fantastic actor. He's starting to talk like this now because he's getting tired or bored of the Super Hero genre.
