I'm sick to death of "I tried to like her/him/it" after someone says they don't like something. Why does it matter? Are you trying to apologize? Nobody cares. It's okay to not like things.

Eh, I'll agree that it's unnecessary in most cases, but there are a bunch of hardcore stans in a lot of fandoms that accuse people of not giving said characters "a chance" when they say they don't like them. Or that they're sexist/racist/etc, if said character is female and/or POC.

p sure it's to explain that they didn't just hate someone from the outset

I'm guessing you haven't run into the kind of fans who'll demand justification for even the mildest and inconsequential dislike of their favourite character, and if your explanation doesn't meet their standard then obviously you're this-ist or that-phobic or judging them personally just because something their fave does isn't your cup of tea.

Fujo jokes, battle dress, and marriage are basically her character. It's an APH character, man. How far can Himaruya really go with any of them, even with jokes.

It seems odd to hold it against her that fangirls only like her because she's a fujoshi (which she hardly is- that's happened like... twice in canon). If anything that would make me want to defend her.

In any case I don't think canon is really guilty of the things you mention.

I like hungary in canon.

I like her less in fanon. I feel like fans need to make her 'tough' and 'sassy' in ways that she isn't really in canon. Yes, she's strong in canon, but in my opinion she's not a stereotypical Strong Female Character who spouts off one liners and uses men for furniture. She has weaknesses, she can be silly, she can be greedy and unfair. Fans seem afraid to show her weaknesses or explore her weaknesses.

You new here?
