That's hysterical.

I don't have anything silly to share, but SCDOT made my day by returning my call, knowing all there is to know about right of ways, and agreeing with me that people do not need to be setting up large slabs of granite in the right of way because it prevents drivers from seeing the &$%#@! road when they pull out of the parking lot.

It's state government, which tends to be better run than the federal government (except for fucking DHEC. A plague upon DHEC's offices.) And I'm in county government myself, so they want to keep their colleagues at the county level happy.

But really, I've had great luck working with SCDOT.
