I've been tempted to do something like this.

I became relatively well-known within my last fandom, but the pressure of that really got to me. There's been something very alluring about the thought of just starting over on an anon meme or something and completely taking the pressure of having my 'name' attached to something off my work.

I'd like to just enjoy the writing and sharing fanfic part without necessarily having a big deal made out of it again, but under my current/last pseud there's no way that could happen. And while I don't really care about comments I do like the concept of sharing the love for a fandom or characters via fanwork, hence why I post the fic and don't just squirrel it away on my harddrive.

I worry my fic style would out me though, so that's why I never did.

If you were well-known then your worries may not be entirely unfounded, but I think a lot of people aren't as good at recognizing writing styles as they think they are. Something as simple as not using the tense you habitually use can totally throw them off.

ayrt

There were a few times I deliberately tried writing anon and I was identified straight away. I don't even know what it was that tipped them off, the style itself or whether I have some writing tics/pet phrases I'm unaware of. Maybe both.

If I ever did this it'd probably be with a brand new fandom and the hope that not too many of my old readership would be into the new thing. I just haven't really found anything since that's captured my interest enough to give it a try.
