I kind of think you're projecting. They just want to be part of an active fandom and the only option is a gaggle of teens. It's the fandom they're interested in and they wish the immature fans didn't come with it.

I'm not the OP but you have exactly captured my own problem with Tumblr and why I dropped out of my fandom since most of the activity migrated there.
