Is that Warchild by Karin Lowachee? It sounds interesting!

Indeed it is. I haven't read it in almost four years now, but it was brilliant. I completely and absolutely recommend it, even if it just seems the slightest bit interesting.

(And even if you're not a fan of sci-fi, it's primarily character focused. This, I sometimes feel, is a bit of a flaw, because while the worldbuilding is good, I think it could be better tapped into. But that's neither here nor there, I still recommend it.)
