I haven't seen this yet. Did they actually make the Ainu guy white?

(Also is the black guy American? I thought they were all from Japan.)

Yeah the Ainu guy is white.

To be fair, Ainu as a race was not "East Asian" - they were completely distinct, in fact, some scholars suggest they were more "white". Past tense used because today most Ainu are mixed so do look pretty East Asian.
