But does hair usually change from brown to black? And can eyes really change from green to blue?

If the brown to black hair were swapped, that would be absolutely possible. I had jet black hair when I was younger and ended up with normal brown.

Not sure about the eye colors at all. I know it can happen with babies, but I assumed it was age-related.

Eyes can lighten with old age, but they can't change colors completely. The only time a dramatic change can happen is during infancy.

I don't believe it is usual, but I do believe it is possible.

Eye color is based on the number and color of pigment granules (Melanin) in our eyes. Blue eyes are the result of a small number of granules with minimal pigment. Green or hazel (light brown or yellowish brown) eyes are the result of a moderate number of granules with moderately colored pigment. It seems that with age, the amount of melanin in the iris can change, resulting in a change in the perceived color.

Eyes can lighten with age. A complete switch from one color to another can't happen.

My brother's eyes switched color completely; they were blue until he was twelve or thirteen years old, at which point they turned green.

Not to mention that, at least with certian eye colors they can look different; sometimes it's because of the light, sometimes it's the dialation or contraction of the pupil.

(Hell, my eyes are hazel; usually they seem sort of golden brown, but when I'm sick and the whites of my eyes go bloodshot, they look much much greener.)

Given the hair in my family gets darker as we get older, yes.

It can, yes. I went through the entire gammut of hair colors before I reached adulthood, basically being born with red hair, having that fall out, growing in white blond that just got darker and darker as I aged. By the time I was in my mid-twenties, my hair was considered either really, really dark brown or black, depending on the person.

...and now it's going grey, which is great. XD

Well my hair has gone from blonde to brown, so I guess it could be possible.

My eye color is grey, but it looks greenish or blueish depending on the day, the light, what I'm wearing. It doesn't go from EMERALD GREEN to SKY BLUE or anything, and I'm not certain of the original context, but it could work.

My hair changed from black to brown when I turned 13. My sister went from blonde to brown to black when she was in her 20s.

Apparently I had a black-to-brown change in my ahir as a baby. Born with black, then it grew out as a dark brown, ending up looking like it was dyed. It's a pity there's no pictures though (Mum lost a pile of baby photos to a development accident at a photo lab).

my hair was very light blonde as a kid and is now brownish, my eyes were also very bright blue but are now what I'd call green/hazel

so yeah it happens
