I don't mind if it's a portrayal that actually has them doing some ruling and making hard decisions, but that's pretty rare. Usually it's all pretty dresses, fancy weapons and living in a castle with lots of servants, which is just dull. And yes, I know that's how a lot of historical royalty actually lived, but I still have no interest reading about it (unless the story is about the revolution...)
