Re: Juggernaut pairings you don't ship?
(Anonymous) 2014-11-23 05:55 pm (UTC)(link)I like Hannibal/Will a lot, and while I don't see much of the Master Goal of Sex (because the show pounds in that he wants a partner/murder husband; and a lot of fics start them banging before Will knows, anyway), I do know exactly what you both mean about Wispy Will! I guess I don't mind it in certain types of fic - brainwashing is totally a kink, yeah - but I feel like I ought to defend as someone who ships their IC versions, too...
(In a better world, sex would be another battleground for their power struggle; rather than this saying sex is superfluous to their relationship, it only has significance because they're not having it.)
If you did want the pairing to work out in a semi-good way, it's not that Will would have to be annihilated - he's changed to the point where he can accept "doing bad things to bad people" as of S2; the person who needs to meet him in the middle now is Hannibal.
Hannibal has his arbitrary Rude, which isn't even a strong rule; it doesn't sound like a far stretch for him to use Will's type of justice as a standard, instead. Some of my favorite stories are basically Murder Husbands with Vigilante-ish Caveats. No, Hannibal will never be motivated by justice or altruism, but if he wants Will to stick around...? Well, the window for such a thing in the show has probably already closed, but that's why fanworks exist.
