I'd say it's more that there's not a lot out there in between YA and, well, middle aged-geared works. I feel like very little is written for/about people in my age group.

However, superhero movies aren't necessarily immature. They have deep themes and some are pretty dark. As in, for adults dark.

Yeah, this. It's like there are 128,548,287,398 books with protagonists between 14 and 18 years old being angsty teenagers, and then there are 128,548,287,398 books about people in their 40s-50s having midlife crises and issues with their grown children and their long-established careers, and WHERE ARE ALL THE BOOKS ABOUT PEOPLE IN THEIR 20s AND EARLY 30s BUILDING A NEW LIFE AS RECENT ADULTS YO.

AYRT - Exactly. The books that do exist are basically "what to expect when you're expecting a baby with a guy, and he's just not that into you? Whatever you do, don't sweat the small stuff."

(i.e., self-help. I'm only half kidding, I once checked for recs for people my age and half the books on three separate lists were self help.)
