I find it really annoying when people jump through hoops to try and justify something in fandom. You'll bemoan another movie for whitewashing, and yet go to the midnight premier of a movie that does it worse.

Everyone wants to have standards and be high and mighty until it comes to the entertainment they want to enjoy.

To be fair, though, I think you can be excited enough about a movie to go see it premiere, while still being aware of problems with the film (like whitewashing).

Like, I absolutely loathe how they whitewashed Silver Fox in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but I'm still excited enough about Wolverine to go see it in theatres (also, frankly I didn't know, because I'll avoid spoilers for movies as much as I can).

Yepp, I agree. And on a slighty different tangent, when fans jump through hoops to try to explain plot/character inconsistencies. It's because of different writers/bad writing/the time period when the show was written, etc. Your fictional universe isn't actually real, stop trying to act like it is.

Not me. I have no high and mighty standards. Fuck the social implications, all I care about is whether a plot makes some attempt at logic and is entertaining or not.
