//nod I can agree to disagree on that. I do normally find his action sequences confusing too, but somehow that chapter just /worked/ for me.

I definitely concur that Isayama is much stronger when he's not trying to tell 50 stories at once. I think that for most of the plotlines we've seen this is true - if you pare it down, there are good elements at the core, and if you simplified them (or just separated them into different stories!) you'd still have plenty of story left. Hell, SNK was going fine before the current bullshit where basically everybody ever is a titan shifter :|
