OP

I was trying to say as little as of what happens but I think I need to explain better.

The earlier part is the 'CAUSE' and the later part is the 'EFFECT' there is stuff that happens in the middle that is a part of the later's story-line. New plots are of course, brought up, Stuff expanding the world. The whole story is basically about the breakdown of a society. The first part is the breakdown of one powerful group in the society, and the second is about when the rival to this formerly powerful (and now a mess) group seizes power with the promise of making things better, and eventually only makes things worse.

Both parts are needed because they both deal with two 'sides' of this fallen society' , as the end result is the whole society falling, to get to the end, where it's starting to be rebuilt again.

The reason there's a gap is to show how the other group has since taken power in the fall of their rival. It picks up when the main characters are forced to get involved again because 'this isn't really working'. The reason they waited this long is because after what was essentially a mini war in their community took place, and they're trying to recover and go back to having normal lives again. They were pretty damn exhausted after all that happened and kinda want to settle down and put it in the past.

and even then in one of the first books of the latter series will be doing a lot of setting up and groundwork of what's happened so far, while also pushing the coming events into motion.

And as for the whole 'the author doesn't think we can imagine it', I know that people are capable of imagining. I'm just not finished with the story yet.

and I don't really see how it's 'pretentious'. I'm just telling more of a story.

(sorry for the poor explaining in the first post)

If all that stuff's supposedly happening, why would you fixate on the shipping part in the first place?

I didn't fixate on it I just mentioned that it happens as a part of the story but I don't want people to think that that's all there is to it.

I've gone into all this detail about plotty stuff, and just mentioned shipping, and you're like "but why are you fixating on it?"

I'm starting to think it was a mistake asking here.

The title of your thread:

"Can you write about your characters' later lives without seeming like its all about shipping?"

You're the one who originally asked a question where the focus was about the shipping and now I'm the one making the subject about shipping?

Okay so I asked a question about shipping. That is hardly a secert sign that my motives are "all about shipping"

What I wanted to ask is "I want to write a follow up to my series but I don't want people to think it's all about shipping" because you know, it's not.

I explained my question, explained my reasons for the timeskip (spoiler: actual plot) and now you're like "but you shouldn't have mentioned it at all if you didn't care about it".

And for the record, no. This is not Naruto trolling. I don't even watch or know very much about Naruto.

*my motives for writing.

God, all I wanted was to ask a question.
