It is a pretty natural ship. At least for those fans who like shipping, and non-white, and interspecies, and het. And now you see why there's some but not loads.

And I love Whoopi anyway. She's very cool.

I gotta say I *never* understood this aversion to "interspecies ships". It's so wtf. I could understand it if it was normal humans/insanely inventive muppets like on Farscape, or normal humans/900 year old body-switchers like on Doctor Who. But normal human/people-who-look-just-like-humans-except-some-face-crinkles, like on Star Trek? IDGI. It always feels weirdly racist/xenophobic to me.

I think Guinan's lifespan is rather more divergent from that of a human than, say, a Bajoran lifespan? I don't recall.

I seem to recall having a sense that she was living on a bit different scale of time and space than most of the humanoids.
