I don't give a single shit about shipping on this show and I wish people would just shut the fuck up about it already, but LMAO, let me tell you, I've seen how both sides of this stupid ship war act, and the 'Caryl' fans belittle Beth just as much as 'Bethyl' shippers belittle Carol. You have your obsessive Daryl fangirls who idolize Beth just because Daryl's into her, not to mention the ones who use her as a blatant self-insert, but the only (Tumblr) blogs I'm following that ship Bethyl are ones that like Carol and don't start shit with her fans. Meanwhile, I had to unfollow a lot of damn TWD blogs because half of their posts were either about how "Daryl needs a mature women" or discussing why Beth is useless bitch who needs to die. This love-triangle bullshit is stupid as hell and dumb fans who are telling each other to kill themselves over fictional characters are only encouraging the writer's to drag this out.

Who gives a fuck about age differences? THEY ARE FICTIONAL CHARACTERS. There's good reasons for why an age gap that big would be a problem in real life, but this is a fictional television show, and if the writer's decide none of those problems will apply here, then they can do that. And as someone who's actually asexual: awkwardness with the opposite sex that's most likely caused by a background of abuse and neglect =/= asexuality. Also, people saying that Daryl and Beth have a brother/sister relationship are deluded/in denial, as are people who say Daryl and Carol have a mother/son relationship. In both cases, they're good friends, they've blatantly flirted with each other, and both have the potential to become romantic. People wouldn't be getting so fucking upset if they didn't believe there was potential there, and I say that for both sides of this.

If Daryl and Beth hook up, fine. If Daryl and Carol hook up, fine. You're all Daryl fans, I assume, so don't you just care about what would make the guy happy? Honestly, I don't know how the hell people even enjoy this show when they're so damn preoccupied with making sure this redneck's love life matches to their standards.

I don't think the writers are dragging it out to torment the ship warriors. I think they legitimately have no fucking idea which direction they want to take Daryl in.

All I know is that whenever huge ship wars like this happen, the writers get scared of their own fans and wimp out, then drag out the triangle as long as possible to avoid alienating part of their fanbase. If people would just calm the fuck down it would probably get resolved faster.

"There's good reasons for why an age gap that big would be a problem in real life". There could be, as could be a million other things that could but don't have to make relationships difficult, but even a rather huge age gap really doesn't have to be problem for a rl relationship. It much more comes down to the individuals involved than anything else.
