Unless you write as if you are a bizarrely entitled self insert addict ( in which case I feel sorry for you), why even care? Too many people are so worried about being politically correct to appease an idiot SJW minority that they can't write jack shit.
What you should be concerned about is writing in token characters, who could belong to any kind of social minority. That is what actually belittles and discriminates. Putting any kind of stupid and misguided ethnic or social group quota in your fiction will stick out like a sore thumb. Achieving a pleasant mix of characters from interesting story and setting relevant backgrounds should be your goal.
And most of all, please do write about something that you personally find very interesting. If you write about something or someone that you find boring, 99 times out of 100, your readers will find it boring too. Enthusiasm is contagious, OP. Find subject matter that you are enthusiastic about.
