I have the same problem. I solved it by:

1. Shaving and putting on lotion afterwards. For some reason lotion seems to help.

2. Not giving a bleep. Look out world, I gots mah hairy legs on display! (In all seriousness, most people won't notice.)

It's not really the hairy part so much as the fact said leg hair is ugly as hell. If the hairs laid flat or were half as straight as my head-hair, I could probably just ignore it/go out with it (especially since I'll probably be wearing these shorts in the fucking cold and could use every layer of warmth I can get). But since they stick out and curl and stuff, I end up looking like I've got pubes all the way down my legs, and the disparity in hair darkness and thickness vs the light skin (since my legs basically never see sunlight) means its incredibly noticeable.
