Re: Dark leg hair on light skin?
(Anonymous) 2014-11-26 04:06 am (UTC)(link)I suffer from the same issue (what do you mean you shaved a week ago? My hair is back the next day!!!)
It does take time (20 minutes the first time on each leg, as you have to get used to the pain of something yanking out your hair, but you get used to it and do it faster over time. I even use it for my under arms!) and conditioning (literal exfoliation and conditioning, but also mental and pain conditioning).
However, the results last longer (I only have to do it every week and a half/two weeks. And it doesn't fully grow back until about a 1/1.5 months later). My hair has also grown back thinner.
I paid about $35 for it, which in the long run is cheaper than waxing your legs (also efficient, the closest I've ever to doing that was a failed attempt of waxing with my home made sugar wax, also a failure) and in the super long run, cheaper than razors and creams.
Give it a try if you're not "afraid of pain". It's worth it!

...and I'm not even sure what exfoliation is...*runs off to Google*
Re: Dark leg hair on light skin?
(Anonymous) 2014-11-26 05:54 am (UTC)(link)In terms of pain, it's definitely a question of your threshold. I've only ever waxed my underarms (and bikini once--it tickled) and the pain is different. Initially, the pain is, well, painful. But after a few minutes (aside from sensitive areas, in my experience, my leg kind of grows numb to the plucking. The machine also has different speeds, so that may affect your pain level. I checked on youtube to see videos of people epilating, and it as recommended to my by an Egyptian friend and a badass Italian woman. So...for my poor hairy self (I have some Arab and Spanish blood in my veins) something that only required maybe about 30 minutes total of my time and only had to be done once every two weeks--totally worth it. And overtime you get used to the feeling so it's not even painful anymore. Besides, between actually shaving and making sure I got everything and not cutting myself (repeat every 3-4 days) this was the better option.
It's not for everyone (I guess). Check it out though, one day you may be willing to try it!
BTW, I didn't know what exfoliating really meant for my legs until I started doing this. I should still moisturize more often though. You could light a match on my legs.
Re: Dark leg hair on light skin?
(Anonymous) 2014-11-26 05:16 am (UTC)(link)according to my friend it is not good. Shaving and moisturising is better.
Also shaving creams made for this issue may help, never tried them.
Re: Dark leg hair on light skin?
(Anonymous) 2014-11-26 05:17 am (UTC)(link)The key (I suppose) is making sure you do exfoliate before you epilate, make sure to moisturize and exfoliate once a week or so. I use a ash cloth, so I consider that my exfoliation. It's also useful to epilate after you've showered, unless you have a water use epilator.

Re: Dark leg hair on light skin?
(Anonymous) 2014-11-26 05:59 am (UTC)(link)I should clarify that exofoliating and moisturizing are *recommended*. I don't do that. I use a wash cloth when I shower, so I consider that exfoliating :] For moisturizing, I usually rub olive oil, shea butter/cocoa butter, or lotion on after showering. It's nothing intense. In total it takes me about an additional minute or two after showering.
The total time of the epilation can be time consuming, but it takes me a while to shave anyway, and i have to do the epilation fewer times a week (once every 2 weeks) than I have to shave.
Re: Dark leg hair on light skin?
I'll give epilation a go, but I'll probably only keep doing it if it really does last long. In my experience, however long something lasts for most people in terms of hair removal, it's only going to last half as long for me, so a week for everyone else means epilation may really only end up lasting about ~3 days for me, if that. Don't know if I can pluck my whole legs that frequently... :(
Re: Dark leg hair on light skin?
(Anonymous) 2014-11-26 04:21 pm (UTC)(link)Eh, if you're already washing your legs in the shower it takes no extra time to switch to an exfoliating cloth and scrub a little harder.
