I forget what this lady's name was IRL and I think she was a composite character, but FYI the actress got a Best Supporting Actress nomination for that 10-minute or so role (maybe you already knew that).

According to google, her name is Jane Alexander. The character she plays was a fictionalized character called The Bookkeeper, based on several real-life accountants working on Nixon's re-election committee, particularly Judy Hoback.

I thought that was Jane Alexander! I remember mainly for her role as the mother in 1983's Testament (especially the wrenching scenes with her dying daughter).

Although as post-nuclear war films go, when you compare it to Threads (1984), Testament was a barrel of laughs.

And like the anon above said, being an accountant is really important. I live in a state where loads of accountants have been embezzling money from businesses and local governments, and other accountants have been the ones catching them.
