I loved Olivia Colman in the British series and was kind of annoyed they decided to do an American remake, honestly. I might watch it, but... eh, I dunno. A lot of American remakes leave me cold. How does it compare to the original?

Watching the remake of Broadchurch would be completely pointless. 90% of it was the whodunnit, and once you know, you know. Only the other 10% was Colman crying movingly.

I assume they're going to have to rewrite the plot a little for the remake, sort of like the American version of The Killing.

Not to nitpick, but Colman did a hell of a lot more than cry movingly. She had great comedic timing bits, personality struggles, struggles with being a woman who's just been cheated of a promotion in favor of a man AND an outsider, a mother juggling a tough job, and finally... well, you know. She rocked it.

I feel much the same. I loved the UK version...and don't see much added value to watching the US version.

Same. The only thing I really like about the US version is Virginia Kull as Beth Solano. She is mind blowingly good in the role. But other than that... Eh. Kinda pointless.
