It's pretty standard as for as light novel art goes. Nothing really stands out about it.

It's not very distinctive or distinguished, but I'm imagining that the OP likes it because it is a very clean, colorful style that is really pleasant just in general. It's really a shame that that anime was such crap, cuz I too did really enjoy the style. Maybe it's generic but it's a pretty type of generic.

It's spiritual successor, style-wise, is Your Lie in April, an anime that is airing currently, which is also very beautiful to look at (and also super crap in terms of story, but that's just like, my opinion).

Hah, I totally agree about Your Lie in April. A lot of people seems to love it but the characters and story seems so artificial to me.
Still, it is indeed really beautiful and that's the reason, with the music, why I'm still currently watching it.

Really? While I like the style and the use of color in Your Lie in April (and agreed on your point with Oreimo's style), I don't really see it all that similar, relatively speaking, to Oreimo's.

And yeah, I feel similar about Your Lie in April. The show is gorgeous to look at, especially the performances, but of what I've watched the story is incredibly melodramatic. I gave up after the second episode.

Hmm. I'd agree that Your Lie in April is not that similar a style on its surface... but both styles are clean, and colorful, and kind of blandly and non-offensively gorgeous. The similarity to me is just that both achieve the exact same effect (for me at least) although going about it in different ways. I'd actually put Free! in this same boat, and although Free! looks very different on the surface, it's still a clean, simple, colorful style that is very easy to relate to, and I'm guessing that is what the OP is wanting.

I have no idea what this is, but I think I'm going to get into this fandom and start shipping Angry Goth Girl and Tall Nerd Girl. I will write terrible slashfic that copypastes generic stereotypical personalities onto them and completely ignores the way they actually act in canon.

The fans will not care that I clearly have no familiarity with the source material and am just making shit up. They will eat my terrible fanfiction up like it's delicious pancakes with syrup and a glass of freshly squeezed orange juice on the side. It will be glorious.

The art style is nice, but this show frustrated me.
There was nothing incestuous in the first season, but then the second season turned into typical harem anime with incest ending.

I know it's based of a LN but I really liked the first season what with 'cool popular girl is a secret otaku and her brother helps her cope with it' stuff. The second season is a train wreck.

I felt the same - I don't even mind incest themes and pairings, but it was nice to have a show that seemed to be going "this looks like it's going to be one of those shows but AH HAH! Fooled you, they have a nice healthy platonic relationship instead! Check them out, growing closer in a healthy sibling sort of a way without it being incestual at all!"
