Where those characters really supposed to be cool? I remember them as being bitchy, self-absorbed, and neurotic. Was the audience really supposed to find them cool?

I think *they* thought they were cool, and by extension, we were supposed to think it too.

I think how cool they were was up to the viewer to decide, but they were definitely supposed to be the New Yorker every-man who, if not cool, wasn't a social loser.

I'm not claiming that's good or bad. That was just the intent of the producers.

I don't think so. I think they were supposed to be very flawed. That was part of the humor.
