tmi menstrual problem

will post in the reply so it will collapse...

okay, so I have this problem when I'm on my period: my vaginal area BURNS incredibly badly, at all times. I use yeast infection cream even though I don't test positive for a yeast infection and it doesn't itch, it just burns, and that provides a minimal amount of comfort. I take dietary supplements designed to promote urinary health, I drink cranberry juice for that reason, etc. I'm on BC and it helps most of my problems (I used to have terrible cramps, etc) except this one.
Here's the rub. I have told multiple doctors about this, and they all say the same thing: it isn't period-related. Even though it has happened in conjunction with my period for years, there's no way a period could cause this particular problem, ergo, there's nothing they can do for me except encourage me to do things to prevent UTI/yeast infections. I've had one doctor say it was all in my head, but luckily he's not my doctor anymore. Searching the internet hasn't brought up anyone with the same problem that I can tell.

Has anyone experienced something like this? At all? Surely I can't be alone...

have you considered it might be an allergy? or some kind of ph level issue?

I can't think what it might be an allergy to... I don't use the same type pads every month, and it happens before I use them anyway. And like I said, it happened before I was on BC.
I had considered it might be a pH thing but outside of using repHresh or something like that I don't know what I could do, since that doesn't help much.

You are allergic to your own blood. You have to ask your doctor for a blood transplant. Since Doctors hate when patients ask for this kind of expensive procedure, you ought to livestream your asking him and his reaction. For your own safety, of course. Remember: Blood Transplant.

this would be perfect with one exception, my little friend under the bridge: when have you EVER known a doctor who didn't like expensive procedures?

na

it's also not a real procedure as far as I know (I mean there are blood transfusions but you can't transplant your whole blood supply. that sounds mental). I think they were making a joke or a reference to something

What kind of protection do you use? could it be a reaction to a sanitary napkins like diaper rash or something related to tampons or?

the burning starts before I use pads typically :\

Do you use pads or tampons? And when you say vaginal area, do you mean only the vaginal opening, or a wider/deeper sensation?

pads, but the burning actually starts the day before I need to use them. It's external pain.

it happens to me too - not the whole period, generally a day or so in the middle and then at the end. nobody has given me a straight answer either. i know how frustrating and uncomfortable it is.

my only guess, since i know im not allergic to tampons, is that after a few days of wearing them my vaginal area is dry, so the fibers in tampons may irritate the walls. it could also be the blood itself irritating you, though that seems unlikely since theres mucous and whatnot in menstrual blood.

ive coped with it over the years by taking my tampon out when im starting to feel pain, and i'll wear a liner/pad for a couple of hours. i drink a lot of water at the same time since i tend to have urinary pain sometimes too, so drinking lots of water clears that up pretty well. the vaginal pain still exists usually but it goes away after an hour or two, for what thats worth.

but it really sucks, i know. nobody else around me seems to have this problem or understand how uncomfortable it is. i wish i had an answer for you.
