Worst Fictional Friends Ever

Inspired by the Friends secret - which fictional friends do you think are some of the worst? This can be intentional on the part of the show, unintentionally, or maybe a mixture of both.

- The friends on Happy Endings. Beyond some of them being mean to each other, in general I just couldn't buy that they were that... close, except for Brad and Max. Especially the female characters - they acted more like casual friends, which in a way could have made sense on Alex's part since she was Jane's sister/Dave's ex-fiance (and so possibly there for the ride more so than another close friend), but I just didn't buy that they were lifelong best friends.

- Betty and Veronica. I know, a preteen(ish) comic book series, but even so, they were horrible to each other.

I agree completely with your assessment of Betty and Veronica. And Archie wasn't worth it. He was such a dork.

The "friends" in the Devil Wears Prada film (haven't read the book). Just…urgh. They're such dicks.

They were kind of dickish in the book, too.

Yeah, they seemed to be completely unaccepting of the fact that their friend had a busy job. And when Lily saw Andrea talking to that guy and thought she was cheating... really?

That was always such a wtf-moment to me.

All of the new Doctors. And all of their companions.

*ducks and covers*

Everyone on the big bang theory

AnOlive and the girl with big boobs in easy A.

This isn't the entire series, I actually love them, but in the third Harry Potter book the trio were horrible to each other. Hermione wasn't understanding of the fact that her cat kept trying to eat her friend's rat, then they ganged up on her twice... I think it was intentional because that's pretty much the way preteen friendships can go down, and the trio became awesome later on (if not without a few more bumps), but still, it's always the only thing I don't like when I re-read PoA. Just very hard not to cringe all the way through.

True. But it was also the book in which Ron and Hermione stay at school over Christmas to keep Harry company, where Ron puts himself in harm's way twice to push Harry out of the way of danger, in which Harry and Hermione go after what they think is a literal omen of death to save Ron, and in which Ron tells Sirius Black that if he wants to kill Harry, he'll have to kill him too. It balances things out for me ;)

AYRT - Actually, yeah, good point. Maybe just... worst friends ever for a few chapters?

Haha yeah pretty much I guess. Do good friends tend to have worse fights at that age? I can't remember myself.

Rory Gilmore is a shitty friend and everything only ever revolves around her life and her problems. I'd much rather be Lorelei's friend, because she at least can usually recognize when she's starting to do that sort of thing and reel it back in and involve the other person again.

Agreed. For a kid that gets so much hype in-series as being so kind and wonderful, she's a pretty self-centered friend.

You aren't by any chance hopping between FS and fail-fandomanon, are you? ;)

Wow, I disagree.

*shrugs*

Every character on that show had their good and bad moments, and I know Willow and Xander had their turn to be an awesome friend to Buffy at various times. But when they weren't was never enough to cover when they were. IMO.

Ricky on Trailer Park Boys is a shitty friend to Bubbles. ESPECIALLY in the 5th season. Bubbles deserves much better.
