I do get lonely if I never talk to anyone, that just isn't enough motivation for me to reach out and connect.

DA--I'm the same way. I *like* people--I'm introverted but neither shy nor terribly awkward, so I'm decent with people and get lonely and weird if I overdo my "alone time." Luckily for me, my job requires a fair bit of interaction with people, and that fills my need for contact in a pretty controlled way.

I like to write but would never want to be an author without a day job. It would be too easy to crawl inside my own head and forget how to come out. As it is, living alone lets me recharge and my touchy-feely job fills my need for human contact.
