I couldn't agree with you more about the inventory shit. :|

I have a short list of things that would make Skyrim a more streamlined game, and the inventory is prominently featured on that list (along with better map mechanics and a way to call your horse).

Agreed! Anytime you have a limited inventory, I don't think the items should have a specific weight. It does make things more realistic, but I would happily throw out that slight bit of realism if it meant my armor didn't weight 80 pounds (or whatever), lmao.

(The Steed Stone does help a lot, but I would still change that. With all the shit you can pick up, you always need more room. Fast traveling to unload shit at your home or at a shop isn't fun.)

Honestly, the weight is the least of my concerns (perhaps because the only mod I've conceded to using is the carryweight mod, because I realized very early on what a huge pain that would be) - I'm really annoyed by how hard it is to organize and use the inventory. It takes forever to scroll through lists; you can't re-order stuff or search for stuff, and the scrolling is very slow. Also, if you have, say, twelve different healing potions that are all called "healing potion" but have twelve different potencies, they will ALL TWELVE be listed separately. >:( Oh, and for some reason after you modify or enchant weapons/armor, each individual piece is listed by itself even if it's the exact same thing as the other 27 pieces you just modified in the same sitting.

Skyrim is a great game, but the inventory is clunky and hard to use IMO. I mean it wouldn't be so hard to use I guess if I didn't insist on cheating on carryweight. But then potions hardly weight anything so my point about them still stands.

See, I bought Skyrim for 360 (my computer at the time probably wouldn't have run it, at least not well) so mods aren't an option. The lack of an inventory sorter does make things extremely annoying, but how quickly I become overencumbered is the biggest issue. I do hate that there isn't a better system for sorting everything though. If you want to leave all your potions in a drawer, I hate that they can't be organized in a more efficient manner, and the whole thing with potions not stacking is irritating. The scrolling can be never ending.... Even an option to list everything from least expensive to most expensive would be helpful. The enchanting/crafting thing is so senseless, lol. I hope Bethesda rehauls their inventory system for their next games. They're great, but need some tweaking.

Yeah, it'd drive me crazy if I didn't have a mod for it. I kinda wish they'd do away with weight limits, since they don't really add anything to the game except tedium. Realism only does so much.

Related: my friend and I have talked multiple times about how amazing it would be if Bethesda made a straight-up sci fi game with their RPG system. And I really hope this happens one day.

Not once have I cleaned out my inventory and went, “Well that was satisfying, I should do it again soon.” It's a part of most RPG's so you get used to it, but I wish you didn't have those limitations. I imagine there have to be some limitations, but... Even a way to store things on the move would be better than having to return to your house or fast travel to a shop or whatever. Oh well. Nothing is perfect I guess.

I would pay good money for that! And now I want it. I feel like Bethesda has done a bit of everything, what with Fallout and Elder Scrolls, but that would still be a neat change of pace. Hmm, someone should bring this to them.

I'm sure they have entertained the idea - it's a common and popular genre after all - but idk if they'd start a whole new franchise when they have two really reliable ones they can keep going back to. If they did, though, and spent a good deal of time on it and made it really polished and detailed, I have to say that's one of the very few games I'd pay full price on to get the first day. SO MUCH POTENTIAL THERE...
