I'm the same way. Always have been. I find I always wait until someone else mentions the thing that I'm currently fannish about; otherwise, I just assume that everyone around me hates it and will judge me for liking it.

It's really silly, and I wish I could get over it, especially since I'm not that way about any of my other interests/opinions/inclinations.
