It just bothers me because Steve has so much to do and so many relationships to explore and I can't help but think WHY OH WHY does he need to have a romantic relationship? Every single one of the Marvel leads does -- Thor, Bruce, Tony, Steve -- would it really not be okay for Steve to stay single given all the shit he has to do? Or, if you MUST include a relationship, make it with someone that actually makes sense? That he's already shown a great amount of chemistry and friendship with?

The dude has so much to get done and given how I'm almost certain that they're going to show Steve dying sooner rather than later, I really don't want to waste time on a half-baked romance with Sharon.

IA with all of this (though I am still in denial, denial, denial about the dying part). I don't know how he's going to have time to form a romance with someone new, unless he's already in one when AOU starts. (Maybe someone will ask how his date with Sharon was, etc. I just want a brief Bucky mention...)

You're right in that he's got a lot on his plate and there are plenty of interesting relationships to explore as is, and honestly it would be easier and take less time for him to form a more believable relationship with someone he's already more familiar with, but... meh. I just feel like Marvel is going to push a romance because they can; it doesn't matter if it detracts precious screentime from elsewhere.
