Re: torrenting
(Anonymous) 2014-11-30 10:49 pm (UTC)(link)How do I torrent? Like what client to use and what precautions I should take.
Haha, should have been more specific, sorry.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-30 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)I'd just like to double with people here because actual people who have experience with something can give me more insight than a google search.

(Anonymous) 2014-11-30 11:09 pm (UTC)(link)To find torrents for stuff not on eztz I would use torrentz and then follow the links to the sites I trusted.
Re: torrenting
(Anonymous) 2014-11-30 11:36 pm (UTC)(link)B) You need a torrenting site. Pirate Bay is a very popular one. Sort by most seeds to get the best and least likely to be virus-infected torrents.
C) You need to hide this shit from your internet provider in case they're the sort who will send notices. For that, run Peerblocker whenever you have your torrent program open.
Disclaimer: Don't torrent, kids, it's bad for truth, justice, and the environment.
Re: torrenting
Once you've got that set up, you'll want to get a program called PeerBlock. (If you're on Mac or Linux, PeerGuardian will do.) Make sure you've loaded extensive filters, and you may need to add whitelists if you use Steam/Origin or play WoW.
There may be some port forwarding issues (affecting your download speeds) but this should help.
And lastly, don't just go to any shitty torrent site. Stick with private trackers and reasonably non-shitty public ones, like Pirate Bay, Kickass Torrents, Demonoid, etc. What.CD and Waffles.FM are private and require an invite, but they're pretty good.
Re: torrenting
Always read the instructions. Make sure you 'remove torrent' from Bit Lord once it's done dl'ing so you don't inadvertently become a 'seeder' (uploading to other people) if you think you'll get in trouble with your ISP, etc.
Get AdBlockPlus and use it, and Avast, too, just in case, though both of these things (Bit Lord, Pirate Bay) are trustworthy.
Have fun!
Re: torrenting
(Anonymous) 2014-12-01 01:16 am (UTC)(link)2. Use a site that's at least somewhat decent. I stick to Kickass Torrents, which has almost everything I want, and Pirate Bay when I can't find something on Kickass, which is rare.
3. Download Peer Block and don't download anything without it. Make sure it's open, has downloaded all the updates, and is running before you open your torrenting client.
Re: torrenting
(Anonymous) 2014-12-01 01:23 am (UTC)(link)Forgot to mention, delete the torrents from the client as soon as they're done downloading because letting other people download them from you is what could get you in trouble with your ISP. I feel like the law might've changed in this regard, and I haven't looked into it in awhile, but at least at one time, it wasn't you downloading stuff that was illegal, it was letting people download from you.
If you make sure to run Peer Block and also delete the stuff as soon as it's finished downloading you should be safe.
