I'm guessing the secret refers less to people like us - because I'm sure we've discussed the Slytherin thing at least 87 times, given that I've known you for years - and more to people who think Draco was a misunderstood woobie. I definitely agree (again, as you know) that they did have interesting potential, though, and it is too bad they were never explored. But I certainly don't think Voldemort or Lucius were secretly the good guys - rather, I don't think every single Slytherin was Voldemort and Lucius.
