Seconding The Big Sleep, The Long Goodbye, Double Indemnity, Key Largo, and Cape Fear, and I'll add in Strangers on a Train, The Third Man, and Gilda (which takes 'dysfunctional/abusive romance' to new heights even for noir), and the later neo-noir entries of LA Confidential, Dark City and Bladerunner (latter two sci-fi), as well as Who Framed Roger Rabbit because it's my favourite whacky smashing of the genre ever.
