Yeah. I'm pretty indifferent towards Asami, she's just... there. She doesn't have enough development. I don't dislike her, but it rubs me the wrong way how people call her "perfect/flawless" while shitting on the woc protagonist that also happens to not be "traditional feminine". Yeah, no.

I'm assuming Asami is Japanese which makes her woc too..

I think that because Korra has been more developed, more time has been spent on her character flaws, while Asami doesn't really have that, so more people complain about Korra.

Yeah, Asami isn't white.

Nobody on the show is, so.

all of them are based on people from asian cultures. there are no whities in avatar land (except in the movie but we don't talk about that)

Is someone woc if they're in a society where everyone is the same race as them?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-01 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
I'm pretty sure "woc" isn't referring to the society that exists in the show, but referring to a "non-white" coded character in a Western/American tv show.

You've just learned an important lesson here: anytime someone uses "POC/WOC/*OC" what they mean is "Black". If your skin isn't brown enough, they don't really give a shit, they just pretend to because it's the PC thing to do.

As a woman who identifies as POC myself, I find this kind of annoying.
