No, I'd actually realize I was acting like a twelve year old and then I'd get on with enjoying the thing I enjoy safe in the knowledge that shippers don't create canon and if I'm letting them influence my appreciation of a certain character then the problem lies with my being incapable of dealing with it like a normal rational person, not with other people.

You make it sound like you're saying that just because their ship is canon and yours is not, then they can't complain when unconventional couples fans make the fandom a toxic place for them. They should just ignore the fact that they can't like their ship in peace without having to read bashing and shipper wars in the ship tags or comments in their own fanarts and fanfictions. In short everywhere they try to ship their thing.

Essentially, you are saying they should ignore the hate and trolling even when they aren't seeking it and have no reaction when people make their fandom experience crap because, otherwise they are 12 year olds.
On the other hand, slash fans dragging het fans in stupid shipper wars just because they are bitter and must try to ruin the fun for others is very mature?

What the actual fuck? If "the shippers" were bashing my pairing or starting ship wars in its tag and commenting on its fic just to bash the pairing/female character they sure as fuck would make ME bitter. And I don't think that would be an issue lying with me; it would be an issue with the shippers being assholes -- you're allowed to be bitter over that sort of shit.

You're allowed to, but it's incredibly masochistic. The only person's fandom experience you're ruining by thinking that way is your own. You're the one choosing to give a shit about what irrelevant people have to say, therefore the issue mose certainly lies with you. You can just as easily choose to ignore their inconsequential stupidity and get on with enjoying your own stuff.
