Honestly for non-military fandoms the fact that she bothered to write "assault rifle" at all and not just "gun" is impressive to me at this point.

"Long black gun" is about as detailed as most authors get unless they're pandering to a specific audience who knows/cares about the difference.

Hahahah I mean the real question is whether or not she uses "clips".

Over "assault rifle"? Not really, unless they were referring to a non-specific firearm. "Battle rifle" might be better, depending. "Gun" is right out. With "weapon" that can be your battle rifle, marksman rifle, sidearm, etc., etc.

Wait a minute, I'm skimming it now and she's already mentioned not one but two different types of helicopters (Apache and Puma) and more or less accurately described them. She knows the difference between squad, patrol, and fire team. She knows that Hellfire missiles move faster than Mach 1 and produce a sonic boom, she knows RPGs are viciously inaccurate... honestly for a slash fic it looks like she's done a shitton of research, actually.

What's your beef?

Sounds like they didn't actually read it, they were bluffing so they could show off their knowledge and expected no one to call them on it.
