I couldn't even finish 1984 when it was assigned in grad 12 English. It was interesting, but the writing was terrible. I rented the movie, wrote my essay based on that, and got an A.

So, eh.

The irony is that 1984 is one of the few "classic" novels I could get through. It's dense but I've learned that if it's newer than say 1920 I can probably read it.

I was just saying I needed something new to read. I just finished Ancillary Justice. Which was pretty awesome.

It's a fairly grim book that is very much about Stalinist Russia without being explicit about it. It might be Arthur Koestler's best-known work.
