I wound up liking Auntie Whispers quite a bit, too. I do wonder, though, why she wouldn't have already tried banishing the spirit with the bell like Wirt. Maybe it was just convenient for the story, or maybe she was afraid of Lorna leaving her so she let the spirit hang around even though it meant people could (and did) get killed.

Or she never knew the bell was that powerful, or maybe getting the spirit to rip itself out of Lorna's body was incredibly risky, and Wirt was extremely lucky that he didn't inadvertently kill Lorna in the process of freeing her. There's a lot of potential explanations if you want them. (Or, of course, a lot of room to tarnish Auntie Whispers a little if that's how you prefer that take on her. There's a lot of room for interpretation!)

All very good points! I like how much leeway we have as the audience to read into those aspects of the story.
