It's not our [profile] sarilla is it?! D:

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
That doesn't sound anything like her.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, Sarilla freaking owns, so probably not

[personal profile] dreemyweird 2014-12-06 09:37 pm (UTC)(link)
....pretty sure the answer is "no".

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 09:57 pm (UTC)(link)
Ooop, it's sarillia, not sarilla. The spelling, not this mystery bnf.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 10:30 pm (UTC)(link)
Unlikely. I seem to recall she mentioned being gay, which would not fit the person OP is describing.

I don't think that's a choice you should respect.

Yep.

IRL it might be a workable solution one in ten thousand times. In fiction, the odds drop, because in many fictional situations, all three characters have incredibly close relationships with both other people due to extreme circumstances usually encountered only in fiction.

(Plus all fictional characters are bisexual. It's a fact that I made up.)

damn it, misfire

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 09:40 pm (UTC)(link)
oops

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)
misfire!
So do you (hate)ship this... person with a slash pairing to solve the problem?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Pretty sure Jesus isn't down with all that hate his giraffe bestie is spewing in his name.

What's a ToD?

Time of Death *g*

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
I believe it's Truth or Dare. Back in my times *single tear drop* people used to annoy the hell out of everyone with these type of stories.

I'm sorry, OP. She sounds like an incredibly irritating person to deal with.

(I can't help but wonder, though, how it came about that she managed to make self-inserts and OCs "a trend". What weird fandom space are you hanging out in?? If a homophobic Christian started spamming one of my fannish spaces with self-insert fic, I'm pretty sure the entire fandom would instantly hate them with passion. I can hardly imagine a situation where self-inserts could become popular for ANY reason, actually. Is she the second Oscar Wilde* or???)

*unsubtle irony is unsubtle.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Maybe because she has a closeness with one of the admins. I know through my experience with an RP board, that if someone has a friend in some high places they can get away with breaking set rules.

This.

If anyone did that anywhere near my fandom spaces, I wouldn't be the only one having a quiet word.

The spitting on slash would be enough to get her banned on its own, if she did so on public posts in front of others who might be put off joining in as a consequence, and she was a repeat offender who didn't heed warnings.

I can take self-inserts as I find them by ignoring them. I suspect a lot of fandom does them as well.

I ended up on a bandom archive a while back, and was pretty surprised that almost every single fic was either OC/Self-insert or 'reader x character' fics.

Don't think it's true that every single fandom hates these tropes. Some fandoms seem to be thriving with them, for some unfathomable reason (age demographic maybe?).

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 09:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I was waiting for the giraffe part to be relevant...

(Anonymous) 2014-12-06 10:03 pm (UTC)(link)
Now I wonder what's the percentage of homosexual mating in giraffe populations...

She has a giraffe icon?

This secret has too many thoughts for one secret

(I hope that blurry bit in the bottom left hand side isn't meant to be read, because it's illegible.)

I don't know. I don't think you have to respect peoples' dumb ideas, even when it's under the smokescreen of religion. You might owe her some respect as a human being, but that's not the same as pretending her homphobia is all right.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-07 12:26 am (UTC)(link)
I was able to make it out as:

"And don't swoon over every Het/OC/rule breaking author, it's gross and creepy! New authors won't learn anything if you keep pampering them."

Mind you, I had to squint pretty hard to figure out "pampering."
