In fandom or irl though? Because fandom is already an inherently silly place (while simultaneously fucking. serious. business ofc). Though you might be right anyway; dorama way surpasses cartoons by the miles. I'd sooner admit to enjoying the odd Thomas the Tank Engine episode than say I legit think Vampire Prosecutor is the best shit ever (it is).

I don't understand why people degrade J/K dramas by saying they're silly. It's like saying all Anime is moeshit or all comics are childish. There are quality stuff everywhere, you just have to find them.

Recommendation time: I recommend Soredemo Ikite Yuku to anyone who loves serious, heart clenching drama.

It depends on the drama, tbh, there were times when I used to watch some just for the eye-candy and their plots were shitty and I would never speak about it to anyone ever (like You're Beautiful, for example). But some of the dramas' qualities were different - especially the Japanese ones - than the popular TV shows out there and they suited me better (like Nobuta wo Produce, damn man, that drama is still the best of its kind).

I don't know. Korean dramas are basically just standard entertainment although some can be painfully cheesy. Cartoons/anime that are meant for children I can see not wanting to talk about though...

I feel that way about some dramas, especially Korean ones that are basically Harlequin romance novels with hot actors. Some of it is legit enough tho. Mixed bag.

What I don't like all that much about doramas is that there's always romances. No romances are so damn rare, even when a drama isn't romance centered, and that's kind of annoying.
