Re: What stereotypes are you guilty of?

Fake geek girl, sort of? I have an interest in quite a bit of fantasy and sci-fi, and I certainly enjoy both computer and tabletop games, but I don't have the same sort of passion for it that classifies a real geek. There are a few exceptions, but for the most part my seemingly wide knowledge of things Trek, Star Wars, Diablo, Mass Effect, DnD, M:TG, Robotech, Firefly, etc. are all side effects of living with and often talking to both my Dad and my brother, who are the full, geeky fans. I'm not entirely sure I count because *I* don't really consider myself a geek and don't describe myself as one, but I've certainly let down guys who thought they'd found a real geek girl.

I'm in awe of the passion geeks have for their hobbies, by the way. I just don't share it.

I hear you on that one. I'm not so into comics (want to make my own, but i'm not the batman kinda girl). I remember one instance where I was name dropping on some video games and this guy was looking at me like I was the dream he never thought would be real. I felt kind of bad. But I am passionate about other things, and quite often, I geek out over historical things--I considered myself an expert on piracy and the Spanish Main/The Golden Age of the Euro Trio (England, Spain and France) for the 16th and 17th century because my love for PotC made me look up history.

The truth is I can be a geek about some things (because there were some things I was into for a while/still am) but I am not a beast about it (certain things, yes). That said, I think it's okay to be curious about things. You, live life à la Auntie Maime: "Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving." I have no intentions of doing so.
