Eh, do it? not sure if hair's the determining factor in cosplay, but if that's what makes you feel you connect to a character - why not? And I'm pretty sure Sebastian Stan doesn't wash his hair daily, either, from what I've seen.

I actually had hair very similar to that for a few years, but it's longer now - I'm almost tempted to cut it. Almost.

Wash your goddamn hair. That shit's nasty.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-10 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
LOL I read this in Cleveland from Family Guy's voice

I only wash my hair about once a week. It's not that gross as long as you keep the rest of your body clean.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-10 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
You might not think it's gross, but trust me, other people can tell.

It really depends on what you wash your hair with, the length and texture of your hair, how naturally oily it gets, whether you wear a hat (which speeds up the grease effect), and even sleeping habits. I can't imagine what sort of emergency might require perfect hair after extended shower skipping, but sleeping sitting up in a chair instead of laying down with a pillow would help. My hair always looks better after a working all-nighter than it does after a fresh shower. So don't assume gross.

It's definitely pretty great for the role. Maybe you could go a little darker.

Well now that you mention it.... I've always thought Bucky's Winter Soldier hair is so so gross. Everytime he was onscreen it was distracting (and not in a good way). :( Not to mention that it makes Sebastian Stan look like Grumpy Cat. I really hope he gets a haircut before the next movie.

Why is it gross? The hair (op's?) is lifted near the roots so it's not dirty. I guess it's some styling product making the texture as it is.

Well, the hair is not a requirement but it helps. Anyway. Do it!

OP:

(Anonymous) 2014-12-10 01:13 am (UTC)(link)
I actually didn't have any product in my hair when I took the picture (I usually don't)

It's not really "dirty cause there's dirt and shit in it dirty" and more "natural accumulation of oil and sebum and shit dirty"

I doesn't smell or anything, but the texture is a bit off putting for myself.

Imo, you're lucky to have so much volume on your mildly dirty, aka a bit Snape like, hair, OP.

btw, one of the girls in my school had similar texture but with straight hair... she had separate small strands. It was her style everyday, so didn't depend on cleanliness.

It makes sense -- with one metal arm, he's probably washing his hair one-handed.

I think we should find out if this is true by empiric evidence. I'm sorry, but I'll just have to go see him shower ;)

Make sure to take lots of photographs to document your findings.

Perhaps his hand rusts and he can't walk in the rain.

I think I'm one of the few people who thought his hair looked fantastic in certain scenes. (In others not so much, but he has a good reason for not having perfect hair!)

Anyway, if you think your hair would help you pull Bucky off I say go for it. That seems as excellent a reason as any to cosplay.

i think a salt spray and just a little work would get your hair looking like that without having to resort to not washing it for days; it's basically just a shorter version of whats known as "beachy hair". you can even make your own salt spray, it's basically just a couple of tablespoons of salt dissolved in a cup or so of warm water, with a tablespoon of hair gel or texturizing product mixed in. blend it, put it in a spray bottle, apply just enough to dry hair to dampen it, then divide into several sections, loosely twist the sections into ropes, and pin them up. let them dry naturally or blast them with the dryer, take the pins out, and finger-comb the hair into place.

google "beachy hair" to get a better idea of what i mean if you want.

Aaaand now I want to know how Bucky washes his hair, goes about other bodily functions, cooks his meals etc. (Not because of the metal-arm thing, but because WHAT DO 100% BRAINWASHED PEOPLE DO when they're not doing the things they're brainwashed to do?)

Eat right, work out, and try to be their best.
