Anyone ever see the Tarkovsky adaptation of Solaris? I always heard it was better than the George Clooney vehicle, but I've never had the opportunity to watch the latter so I can't really compare.

(As a fan of Tarkovsky's slow-pan simulator Stalker I had to see his Solaris, of course)

Yes, it's amazing. I've seen it on big screen at the film museum years ago. It's very long, and slow, but I loved it so much. I'm not that excited about Stalker, though, so our tastes may differ. IMHO it's better than Stalker, and it's in that tradition of philosophical sci-fi that make you think about what it means to be human.

Also I can't compare it to the Clooney version, because I haven't seen it, and frankly I'm afraid to.

But, see it. Rarely do I recommend a film so much.

No no no no, I DID see it. I almost certainly worded my comment wrong, I hadn't seen the Clooney version.

Ah, nor have I - can't help you there.
