I like the Star Wars prequels better than the original trilogy. I'm aware that this means my opinion on movies will never be taken seriously again.

I really like the SW prequels. Mostly because Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon are my top favourite SW characters, but it was nice in other regards, too. (and I didn't have to tolerate Anakin being a dickbag).

However, I've read the main criticisms of the films and agree with the majority of them. The plot was kind of shit. Some of the characterization really sucked.

I love Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon too. I think a big part of it is that I also prefer the action in the prequels to the original trilogy. I get so bored by action unless it fits my preferences. Give me the light saber battle at the end of I over the space ships flying around the Death Star in IV any day. Also, Han Solo is just as annoying to me as Anakin.

I'm still proud of my troll secret that was literally just a picture of the posters for the prequel trilogy and the text "I liked these movies." underneath. Best effort-to-reaction ratio ever.

I don't remember that but I'm not surprised. It's one of those things people love to overreact to.

AYRT

I actually went and found the secret (imgur's view-tracking feature is wonderful for that), and the secret above it had a lot more wank. It didn't do half bad for five minutes of work, though. http://fandomsecrets.dreamwidth.org/1041148.html?thread=763507452#cmt763507452

Yeah, I remember that and it wasn't especially wanky at all - more about what was, frankly, pretty reasonable discussion about whether or not the prequels were good films

shout out to prequels anon, keep holding it down

Man…that's so disappointing. I remember reading that secret and being so excited because I love prequels so much. Figures it would be a troll secret, I guess.

As a non-SW fan I can't disagree. They were at least visually entertaining. There's something about nostalgia and fandom that makes everyone believe that the first three movies weren't exactly as stupid and visually driven as the prequels, though.

Spoilers: they were just as stupid.

Can I bargain you down to "just as stupid and visually-driven, but more competently written and edited"?

I will give you competently edited, yes. I will not give you competently written.

I like all 6. I like the OT more, but I love the whole universe. And actually, ROTS is my second favorite of the 6. Also, ROTJ is my favorite over ESB, which is not a popular opinion.

I like RotJ better than ESB too. But I'm a sucker for a redemption story.

Me too. Redemption stories and good endings. The last parts of series' are almost always my favorite.

I don't like them better, but I DO like them. (Especially Phantom Menace because of Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon and Darth Maul. If this means I have bad taste then I am fine with it.)

I prefer the original trilogy and I actually like The Phantom Menace but Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith don't work for me sadly. But I'm not going to tell you you're wrong for liking them and tbh even for the two I don't like they've got some good moments and I love the music scores of each film.

Though I've seen all the SW movies, I don't remember much about I or II. But I unironically liked Episode III.
